Default Althea (cover)

This is one of my favorite Garcia/Hunter tunes. It came along a bit later than most of their best numbers.

Played on my Ibanez AC 240 (hog top) into a zoom h4n (internal mics) to Audacity (compression, eq, reverb).

Thanks very much for listening, guys!

That tune is a long slog... no chorus, the hook is a bass line and lots of space between the verses...I'm always happy when I get to the bridge

I love that cheap little AC 240...best $250 I have spent in a long time.

Thanks much for the ear and your comment!

It is a great tune. First time I heard it was live, in Providence on 11-4-79. This was prior to the studio release which came the following year. It made a big impression on me right from the beginning!

Good to know. I never really got on the bus until recently, but now I love playing GD on my acoustic. You can learn a hell of a lot about music and guitar by studying Jerry and Bobby and Phil.

I'm glad to hear they are still making new fans!

Lots of their tunes translate well to the acoustic guitar, which is how they got started.

I got into country music through the "back door" after hearing some of their covers of the classics.

Have fun with it
