This thing is (of course) looking amazing ... and what a spectacular top ... wow!

On the previous page I noticed the heel inserts to bolt on the neck and I was curious about them. I wondered why I never noticed them in the build sequence so I went back to see if I missed them somehow. No, seems little elves made the neck.

This thread is making me itchy for the McJam. It might be all the pollen in the air though!
I’m also feeling like I should be tinkering too though. I’ve just been playing my guitars, not working on them.

Thanks David. BTW, I am a BIG fan of "Hard Line" tops, which this top displays those nice vivid dark semi-cellulose lines. Its usually a good visual indicator of excellent long grain stiffness. Hard line analogy is comparable to rebar used in concrete

Yep, those sneaky little elves creep into the shop in the middle of the night. They usually do good work but I can always count on them to make a huge mess that is always left for me to clean up in the morning.

This is a great day for posting! As you will soon see - The McKnight Dominator is very close to completion. The pics I'm posting today leave me nearly speechless.
Comments are Mary's unless otherwise noted... Scoring the finish so it can be removed from under the bridge... (How's that for a coincidence! Tim found a bridge named RODGER) Removing the bridge clamps... Time to get serious and add the bridge... A load of glue that will be spread...

Action shot of the bridge going in place...
Screw the bridge securely... The Christmas turkey view... The glue oozes out... The clamp secures the bridge to the home plate... Up close and personal shot... Glue is about to be removed... Glue gone! Pin holes... Checking out the spec sheet and moving on...

Aha ... a text to Rodger settles any debate there was on this end on which size diamonds to use.
Tim traced the diamonds chosen by Rodger... The luthier eyes used to help Tim stay in the lines of this art work... Let the inlay begin! McJammers will notice there is a brighter light above the luthier's bench... Just don't look up. It can be very blinding! The cavities are made and the diamonds are set in place. The Ebony dust is glued in... Filing the inlay flush with the fretboard...

Clearing debris from fret slots... Typically Tim and I trade sides off the bench during this process... Left slots have had the first pass of the file. Note the difference between the left and right slots... Fret wire chosen by Rodger. (Rodger: I went with Stainless frets so I - and, eventually grandson Dominic - will never have to have a re-fret) Pre cut the lengths...
