Default Buendia OM Test Drive

I recorded this really short video as part of checking out a Buendia OM. I have to decide quickly if this is a keeper or not :-), so any thoughts on the sound are welcome! This is just a short example from one of my Mel Bay books.

Default WOW!

That is ABSOLUTELY a keeper. The tone you produce is always outstanding, but that guitar seems to take it to a new level. Such balanced beautiful tone.
Thanks for posting, and good luck with your decision.

That’s quite a tone, very piano like with lots of resonance and chime. I like it very much.

Well, Doug, the problem with answering a question such as that, particularly when posed by you, is that you are one of those players who really pays attention to TOUCH instead of just picking at the strings. Larry Pattis is another, if you want another example. In short, whatever guitar you play is going to sound like you, and that sound is excellent. I can say that the guitar you are playing in the video responds very well to your touch, if that helps.

The guitar sounds wonderful. I guess it depends if that's the sound you want for the music you want to play. Sounds great in your hands, but I don't think I would play arrangements that are ideal for that sound.

Not mine to sell, I decided to pass on it, and it's on its way back to Dream Guitars. I suspect they have someone in line for it already - very interesting instrument. it was a tough decision :-)

Beautiful music/playing. The guitar has incredible low end and amazing fundamentals. On first listen it did not seem To have a whole lot of overtones. My perception might change one I listen to it again

Doug, What was it that stopped you from keeping the guitar.

Mostly the fear of being strangled in my sleep if I bought another guitar :-)

This guitar has amazing bass, very distinctive. But it does face stiff competition from other guitars in my house, and going back and forth over a few days, I just decided it wouldn't displace those I already have, tempting as it was. I'll probably regret it...
