1965 Martin D12-20 (crack free and all original)
This guitar is in superb condition. One short, small scratch on the top and a dime size amount of buckle rash on the back and that's basically it! Very clean finish and gorgeous tortoise shell binding. Martin started producing these in late 1964 but these were not in their catalog until 1965. This one was stamped in early/mid 1965 so it's a very early one and is quite light compared to the 1970's D-18S six string cousins I have played (and sounds great as a six string as well!). I don't know how guys play the heavy Guild 12 strings when these are available. Original waverly tuners. Medium action height with a healthy saddle. OHSC in excellent shape. Sounds HUGE!!

Never had the chance to play one of these D12-20's, but comments I have read over the years from those who have owned one seem to put it at or near the top of the 12 string food chain. If I didn't already have a Taylor LKSM 12 this one would be on the way to me.
Best of luck with the sale. Looks to be in great shape !

Thanks Mark
I took the octave strings off this thing and played it as a 6 string and it sounds awesome that way as well.

What's the neck profile and nut width on this? Looks like a small separation at the neck heel - is that an issue?
Why are you selling? Thanks!

no separation at the neck heel. the nut width is 1 7/8". selling bc 12 strings don't suit my playing style. i do like it alot as a 6 string bc it sounds great and i can play what i prefer to play better with just 6 strings.
