Guitar picks survey
Hello I’m a college student and for a class I had to come up with an idea for a business. I came up with recycled guitar picks . It would help me out alot if you could take this quick survey thank you for your time .https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/DH73KVC

One thing, the thickest option available to choose is what I’d consider on the light side of thickness. For others in the same vein, there may not be a suitable choice to select from (no other option for that question).

Nava, I've been in the pick biz going on five years. Feel free to contact me to pick my brain, if I can be of some assistance.

Just took the survey...and it got me thinking again about credit card picks. I have cut a few out of old cards with minor success (can't really get the shape just right with a scissors). But there are pick cutters for modest money that would do the job - in fact a friend who teaches band (and guitar) in high school uses that successfully to supply cheap picks to students.
What I can say about a card pick is that it sounds durn near like mid-range (say, primetone) picks. Anybody here using them? (lacking the cutter I myself have gone to primetone) |

Just did the survey. That being said... in the future, you really need to add a 'No Preference' option and you need to proofread your options (in one case, you duplicated an answer).
Sorry, it's just the business/marketing professor in me coming out... |

I took survey, what the heck!
If you make a recycled pick that feels like a Fender Medium, or a yellow Tortex .73 ( same gauge as a medium, just different plastic) and give me the ' standard' shape, I'll use them! |

Not sure you'll like my answers . . .
What do you look for in a guitar pick? A pick? I bought a tin of Gibson Triangular Thin picks about 10 years ago and I still have about 40 of the 50 that came in the tin. Reckon I'm not your target market. The questions appear to have been posed with a specific outcome in mind instead of just open ones. Quite a few times I was stumped for an answer as nothing applied to my choices.

I just measured two discs in the office here. The DVD was 1.15 mm, the CD 1.25 mm. I have no idea if there is any industry standard for those formats, but the CD is almost twice as thick as a Fender Medium. If you're serious about manufacturing, I'd suggest perhaps slicing out a few test picks from an old desk and give them a whirl (be careful not to slice off a finger if using something an Exacto knife). There are a lot of factors that go into making a great guitar pick material. And then, how does it sound? sm |

Survey completed, but I think I, like many others here, tend to buy/use more material, thickness (and more than you offered) and finish specific products.
Personally speaking, I have little interest in colour or graphics and having bought my preferred products I expect them to last for life. If you are thinking of going into the mass produced business, then I'm not your target market.
