1967 Gibson Southern Jumbo SJ Dreadnaught Acoustic Guitar
Well folks, here we have my '67 Gibson SJ that I am finally willing to get into someone's hands who can better enjoy it. I've had this for about 15 years but before that it had been in storage for at least 20+ years from the person I bought it from. It was in decent shape overall when I found it, but I had Greg Back (http://www.gregbackguitars.com/) in Manhattan Beach go through it and bring it to tip top shape. He's worked on guitars for the likes of Michael Thompson and Scott Henderson so there was no one else in the area I trusted more with my guitars. It's largely all original save the following:
1. Original wooden adjustable bridge and saddle (will be included) were replaced with a lovely Brazilian rosewood bridge and bone saddle 2. The 1st fret lower pearloid parallelogram inlay was missing - Greg installed one that looks pretty close in tint/shade but you can tell it's just slightly mismatched upon close inspection 3. B-Band A2.2. Active Dual Transducer Pickup System (AST and UST) w/stereo endpin preamp 4. Guitar strap button on neck heel As you can see, these are all functional improvements in my eyes, and add to the overall playability. For an instrument that is around 55 years old it's got your typical wear and mojo. There are two small cracks between the pickguard and the fretboard end near the soundhole that Greg repaired and stabilized. There is checking throughout the finish, various marks, scratches, pits, etc. I took as detailed well lit photos as I could. No neck cracks/breaks or fretboard resets. The frets are in great shape and have plenty of life. The nut width is 1 9/16"; nut material is bone. Finally, the sound is just unbelievably vintage Gibson. Not overly boomy or bright and shrill--just balanced and full. The perfect strumming guitar in my opinion, and I used it often for acoustic rhythm parts when recording/performing. Not to be hyperbolic but when I sit and play this guitar I hear the Stones, Neil Young's live acoustic sounds (Hey Hey My My). The B-Band pickup system is awesome, and I've never felt the need to replace it.        Asking for $2400 for local pickup in San Diego or SoCal area.
