Default Fire!!!! Which guitar would you grab first and.... why?

That thread about 'What are your Five Favorite Guitars you have or have ever had or played' got me thinking.

Middle of the night... flames and smoke abound and you only have time to grab ONE guitar... assuming of course you own more than one.

Which one do you grab and why? Which did you leave behind?

Oh... I know... this is one pretty silly thread but Carol's taking a nap in the camper and I'm bored sitting here at Starbucks. Home soon.

Well, I only have two worth mentioning right now so this isn't a terribly tough choice. I'd grab the Martin OM-28 because it'd be harder to replace than the Fender American Deluxe Strat.

A guitar would not be high on my fire escape plan. But if you insist...it would be the seldom played hand-built Sanabria classical. My logic is that all the others, even my fantastic favorite D-28, are more easily replaced.

Fire? "Middle of the night... flames and smoke abound..."?

My wife, my dog, and a computer if I had time. Actually, I have a backed-up drive in a safe-deposit box, so I would lose only a few days of info if I didn't have time for the computer.

Even the most-special guitar can be replaced...and I've owned some darn-special ones, that's for sure.

You guys are putting too much thought into a purely hypothetical/imaginary scenario The point of the question seems to be to see which guitar is most important to you, not to determine how good your emergency evacuation plans are.

Pretend you have no other belongings/family members and HAVE to grab one guitar.

That is a tough one. Either my Martin D-16H or Peavey Vandenberg (electric.) I suppose the Martin is probably more valuable, so probably that one, but I have had the Vandenberg fo a long time. The Martin gets played much more as well.

I think my hands would be full with other more important stuff but I'll play along. I'm thinking my Custom Shop Martin 0-28VS Carpathian/Amazon Rosewood because it sounds and plays like a dream and I've never seen another like it.

I noticed you didn't tell us which one you would pick!

Well for me no question: it would have to be my Martin D Mahogany

wrapped in a towel
so the Larrivee L-09 doesn't bang on it to much as we run.

I think my hand is big enough to grab 2 necks

Cannot fathom you sitting in a coffee shop without a guitar! I would grab my 000-15m and go back for my rnj-17. Otherwise the wife is first. Still can't believe you're in a coffee shop without a guitar! J.D.

I'm afraid I'd get burned to death trying to choose between the OM-28v and the 00-18v.

Default No worries

My house is mostly masonry, so I'd have more time than most. I would toss whatever I could out the window onto the flower beds. I live in a ranch, so it wouldn't be a far drop. I would probably have time to save everything that's important, and then all my guitars.
