Has anyone not been happy with the Ibanez AC 240
I’ve never played one, but it seems to check all my boxes. Searching for a smaller fingerstyle guitar on a budget. Thanks

Love mine.
2014 model. Bear in mind it is a mahogany guitar and will sound as such. |

I really like that model. Comfortable, good tone (esp for the money), great neck profile, a true 1.75" nut width, and short scale. I hardly see any of them around used so people must hold onto them.
FYI, there's a difference between the older models with a black label and the newer white label ones (in the soundhole). While the specs are basically the same, the older black label ones are straight braced while the white label ones have scalloped bracing. The scalloped braced models sound noticeably better in my opinion. Also, I've seen a few of them with bridges that weren't properly glued. I was able to slip a piece of paper between the body (lower bout) and the bridge on some of them (2 white labels at GC and 1 black label on Craigslist). These could've been flukes but it's something to keep an eye out for in your search. |

What’s the difference between the 240 and the 340?

Its a nice looking and not a bad player. Not a very refined tone but then again its not an expensive instrument. I have had a few of these. I could not get rid of them fast enough.
So now for the bad. They are famous for bulging tops and bridge lift. Bring a flat ruler 24 inches or longer with you when you vet them. You can check the bulge at the back of the bridge going side to side. According to Ibanez the acceptable bulge was 2mm. Considering every unit I have ever seen has had that much bulge or more I imagine its higher now I have yet to see one on the floor of any big box store that did not have at least 2mm bulge and as a result the saddle leaning in. Its a 1-2 year plan buying one of these. Unless you are in love with the instrument I suggest you avoid all products from this brand in this price segment. They are some of the worst built guitars you can find. In that price range consider the Eastman PCH series. |

Sold mine, now I'm happy. Sounded a little boxy for my liking. Tried many different strings and still never bonded with it.

I’m a fan. Great bang for the buck. Mine is a few years old. Lots of threads about this model if you search.

Using a 12in ruler my AW54 has enough that you can rock the ruler end to end and it's more than 2mm WHAT THE HECK!...is that normal ?
