Thanks. I debated honestly between this one and a Standard. If it didn’t have GE bracing and had aging toner I would have went standard. Honestly seeing a pale white top was very enticing...

I'm with you on that one. I love the look of a real aged Martin. The aging toner will never look as good as a 10 year old natural one to me. 20 years even more so.

As for the addy, I've got 2 addy topped guitars now, one rw and one hog. One is an Eastman e20-om and the other a Martin 000-18ge. I can feel and hear the difference between addy and sitka. I feel like I've got a pretty good handle on it now. Sitka is softer in tone and feel. Addy more hard and direct. I happen to like both, but for different things. For strumming and projecting, it's hard to beat an addy topped guitar.

Congrats on the new guitar coming in. Hopefully it doesn't ship FedEx so you actually get it and get it on schedule at that.

Signed: Stinging from recent FedEx debacle.

Haha

Well it is shipping Fedex and it hasn’t shipped yet. Ordered it Monday. Guess it will end up sitting on a truck all weekend somewhere....

Congrats! I knew you wouldn't wait to sell the other one!

Now that it's gone at MFG I can stop looking at it.

Well, I'm glad I didn't wait. The other one sold today. Timing is amazing sometimes...

Actually side by side with my 48 year old D35 not a lot of difference.

Nice! I'll look forward to hearing about it. I really wanted to grab it but I ended up trading my Eastman E20OM-TC for an Eastman E10D-TC and it's such a cannon and it completely blew away my idea of how good an Eastman can sound. Enjoy

Good call...I really like Eastman's mahogany models but not nearly as big a fan of their rosewood offerings? I bet the E10D-TC is an awesome dread!

I want to try an Eastman someday, but until then I’ll just sit in ignorance lol

Not necessarily volume just much clearer tone and definition when driving the top hard which to me defines headroom.

The Martin D18 is just about my favourite acoustic guitar on the planet, but I would be hard pressed telling the difference between Adirondack or any of the other spruce varieties. (Same for any guitar).
