Default MAYFLY WHISPERS

The background of the unique title of this tune is in the Sound Cloud discussion box. Done in standard tuning, capo #2 on my Tony Vines Artisan, Cedar/Quilted Sapele. This had been recorded earlier on a different guitar, but I wanted to transition it to the Vines this winter with a new recording. Hope you enjoy!

Very nice. Wonderful sounding guitar and recording. A good time to post this with the trout season, here in WI anyway, just getting underway.
I agree with your wife, as a flyfisher, not a biologist, a good name for the song.

Man, Fred,

That is just beautiful! And what a perfect story behind the song!

And lovely job on the recording -- it sounds sublime!

Glenn, as always, so appreciate your responses and comments. We are the same age.....but your talents are enormous beyond mine and so your positive feedback is much appreciated! My wife is usually the official "song title " person and she's super creative. The catch, I only get one shot.....if I don't like it.....no second offering, I'm on my own after that!

Wow that guitar sounds so rich! Very nice songwriting skills! Very relaxing with beautiful progressions. Clean and smooth playing with no string squeaks. What are you recording this on?
Cheers,
Jasper

Now that makes me smile! Then I suggest you take her first suggestions, because she is obviously very good at understanding what's behind these songs!

Thanks so much, Jasper! As with some folks, I seem to have little idea where these songs emerge from. Ear training early on may be responsible, I think. this from the days of LP's and putting that needle down in the same spot to try and get it down....over and over and over. Over the many years since, the elements of how to bring a song to life have filtered in.
I'm recording these on a Zoom H4n, but using external condenser mics (Sure KSM 137's) fed through a separate mic pre amp. I do some mixing in Audacity with the reverb being a program in ADVERB. All quite simple. the setup includes 3 portable gobo sound panels creating a little "booth" which partially surrounds me when I record. Have to give lots of credit to the Tony Vines guitar.....which seems to really love a microphone! It's turned out to be a super recording guitar.
Thanks so much for your positive response......much appreciated!
Fred

Derek, thanks so much for listening and posting on the thread. Yes, for sure many of my pieces are oriented toward mood (s). I don't think I'm in a rut, necessarily,.....but seem to gravitate to this style naturally and stay within "my sound" whatever that is! Thanks again!
