ES-1 balanced question
I know much debate has taken place in terms of whether running the Es-1 balanced adds fidelity or simply db's.
My question is this. Can ES-1 still enjoy the "balanced" benefits, if a trs is used a the taylor, but then the signal is converted to unbalanced, via a transformer, before it hits the amp? Using trs straight out of the Taylor virtually eliminates all the acoustic effects boxes. No way to get the signal in...thanks!

The easiest way to use unbalanced effects and maintain the benefits of the balance output of the instrument is to use the Taylor K4 EQ/eirect box. I've written up a review and a short guitar to it HERE. The quality and sound are very high. You can poke an unbalance effect in the loop and it doesn't affect the final signal's balance because the balancing transformer is post-effects loop.
You can get one on eBay for the range of about $250. I got mine off eBay. Bob

I have used a TRS-XLR cable plus transformer (XLR-1/4" TS) in my live set up, and it does seem to preserve the tone/volume, rather than just using a TS cable.
