I’m not certain I follow the point: Are you saying that the Delux Reverb (with EV speakers) has been a good sonic choice for your needs, but that the speakers added to the less-than-desirable weight? Or are you saying that EV speakers have not helped you achieve your desired sound?

The Twin had EV speakers. They probably added 15-20 pounds to the Twin. A Deluxe Reverb is just smaller enough to make it easier to schlep around. Tonally, I find the DR a great improvement over a Tweed Deluxe and somehow snappier than a twin. My brother now has the twin. After 40 years one of the EVs finally bit the dust. Now he plays electric piano with the twin as the amp and a 10” and 12” JBL in a separate cabinet.
