For me it would be

Girl and In my Life . Playing wise I just love While My Guitar Gently Weeps as a fingerstyle instrumental

The Beatles were literally a Saturday morning cartoon show when I was a kid so I didnt take them seriously until later. My favorite is "I Feel Fine" which has been a recurring ear worm for decades. Good solid riff-driven song.

There is no way to pick a favorite for me, since the Beatles were what lit my fuse big time to pursue music in general and guitar in particular.

I attended a showing of "Eight Days a Week - the Touring Years" on my 60th birthday last fall. Wonderful film for Beatles fans and the audio and film have been digitally reconstructed (amazingly well). When they got to the song "Baby's in Black" and hit the harmonies in the B section (relative minor) I totally lost it, chills up my spine. 50+ years of musical wonderment came rushing back.

My favorite is Penny Lane, among the many songs I could list.

There are so many to choose from. My all time favourite it " A day in the life", but leaving that track aside and playing along, I'll go for "Hide your love away"for the early song and "Cry baby cry" for the late one. Tomorrow it could be different.

Oh, earlier would be "Eleanor Rigby". Hidden pain in hidden lives.

Later is "Let It Be". Such a moving reminder to try to see life from a bigger perspective, even in the face of tragedy, loss and fear.

Early: I Want to Hold Your Hand.

Reason: Early 60's transition from 50's pop, and just sounds so cool.

Later: Here Comes the Sun.

Reason: Dead simple to play, capo up high and it sounds so cool. Please are really impressed when I play it- "Hey, you're a great guitar player!"

Right now “A Day In The Life”. Simple perfection that captures the essence of both John’s and Paul’s best

As the OP, just wanted to thank everyone for your wonderful responses. Frank, I think "And Your Bird Can Sing" is another example of what an awesome guitarist George Harrison was, and how he was the perfect complement to the rest of the band. His playing was always complementary, not overbearing.

Great Song!

This is off-topic, and yet I feel it's still in the spirit of the thread.

Despite all that people say - including the Beatles themselves about the initial concept not really getting very far - I still listen to Sgt Pepper as if it truly had been conceived as a whole, and as if the Beatles were really acting out a tour-de-force presentation of the Lonely Hearts Club Band. I sink into the first track, imagining myself in a theatre, and there's a stage with the band playing on it, until the curtains close and reopen to reveal ... Billy Shears. And I listen to the whole album like that, with the stage sometimes being just a stage, and sometimes becoming a screen showing a boat on a river, sometimes becoming a circus ring, and so on.

I know many people think Revolver has on the whole better songs, and I might almost agree with that. But there is something about Pepper that is so much more than the individual songs, and although there are Pepper tracks that I love to bits, I wouldn't pick any single one out as a favourite.

I think what I'm saying is that if I had to pick out my favourite Beatle 'thing' (interpreting 'thing' suitably broadly) rather than just a couple of songs, my choice would be the Pepper album.

Nah, as much as I like MMT, Peppers is a stronger album. That being said, Revolver is my fave!

A Day in the Life.
The chord progression just fascinates me and I love Lennon's rhythm guitar and vocals.
