Rainsong DR1100; another string thread
I received my first cf guitar and I am blown away by how it looks. I don’t know if I like the strings so I wanted to know what other brands sound good with this guitar.

I'm using Martin Monels on both my Rainsongs (JM1000/JM3000)...

So how do you like your DR1100? How does it compare to any other dreadnaught you might have or have had? Just curious, I have a CH-WS that I really like and I keep thinking of adding a DR1100 to it but I'd want to get rid of one of my dreadnaught's then.

I have not had the chance to sit down and play. The day it arrived I had to leave for a trip. I spent about two minutes playing and it sounded good. Once I get home I’ll let you know how it compares to the Martin D18 I had.

Try the Elixir Nanowebs. These have been my favorite on my Shorty FLE.

Sat down today and played for a bit. I really like the sound of this guitar. To my newbie ears its right up there with a Martin D18 I had. Good times ahead!

I used Elixir nanoweb on my Cargo even though I have never been a big fan of Elixir sound, until I recently tried John Pearse PB and like them a lot. They are holding up quite well too (not as long as Elixir, but long enough for me).
As so often in these matters, strings are a very personal choice. Try a variety! |

Big fan here of the D'Addario EXP strings. Coated string life, but much better feel and tone (to my ears, anyway) than the Elixirs. If you read any string thread on the forum, you'll see that strings can make a pretty huge difference in tone on a Rainsong, so it's worth rotating a few to see what appeals to you.
