CA Legacy: Pre-Peavey - Post-Peavey, How to tell?
I now have Four Composite Acoustics guitars.
Two Cargo guitars one pre-Peavey, one post-Peavey. I can tell by the tuners... Peavey uses Hipshot open-gear tuners on the Cargo. I have an X-Performer with an iMix preamp. And I just got a Legacy... this is what my question is about. It has Gotoh tuners and a white label. Acoustic-only but it has an end-pin jack installed but connected to nothing. So I installed a LR Baggs I-Beam. How to you tell the age or year of manufacture of these guitars. I am including a photo of the Label. It has Gotoh tuners. Sorry for the poor photo. Can any one help me here? |

The serial number on a Peavey CA will start with "003" as in these links:

Thank You SpruceTop...
I can barely read the label, but I discovered a serial number sticker on the inside of the top near the sound-hole. 003BDA034xxxx C.W. What does C.W. mean? Cross Weave? Charlie Wilson? |

Just a guess, but maybe Composite Weave or Carbon Weave?

003 = Peavey North American Factory B = 2000 to 2099 D = 2013 (first Peavey CA year = A/2010, second year = B/2011, third year = C/2012, fourth year = D/2013, etc.) A = January (B = February, etc.) The remaining numbers may have something to do with the day of the month and what number the guitar was on that day. CW Carbon Weave? Carbon Wine-Red? I think these finish combination designations may have changed over several years. If you view Page 18 of the latest Composite Acoustics Catalog at the below link, you may be able to figure out what CW meant in the year your guitar was made: http://www.compositeacoustics.com/CA_Catalog.pdf
