Default Ideas for floor to ceiling bookshelf

Hi all! Long story short, I'm moving in with my family to an apartment and there is this floor to ceiling bookshelf (upload photo) attached to the wall. Having two 2 year old girls I can't imagine leaving it the way it's now as they both can (and will) climb them.

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1PF6...w?usp=drivesdk

Initially I thought about removing the lower ones and having to top ones for pictures or some decoration stuff. "Guitawise" maybe removing all the shelves and hanging my acoustic and electric there, although I actually prefer to keep them in their cases.

I'm here for ideas - pictures or links are welcome. Thanks!

If it's an apartment, you may not be legally permitted to make changes to it.

Talk to the landlord, not to us.

You have to talk to your landord..

we own a two family, granted, it's occupied at the moment by my daughter, who is not paying us rent... but anything that goes on in that apartment, is ultimately my problem when she leaves. if ever.............

I'm sure the last thing that the landlord wants is a child injured on his/her property. I would think they would be inclined to work with you towards a solution.

Thanks a lot for the answers everyone. Yes, maybe I should've elaborated the whole scenario a little more. I've already talked to him and it's ok for me to do whatever I want with the bookcase, as long as I pay for any repairs.

I'm looking for some ideas on how this bookcase could be repurposed without having to remove it from the wall, possibly just the shelves.

Remove shelves 2-6 (counting from the bottom, hang a picture inside the enclosure under the top shelf and use top shelf for knick-knacks...

Remove some bottom shelves and put your guitars..in their cases...down there. No need to hang them at all.

Alternatively, instead of talking to the landlord maybe it's time to talk to the kids about not climbing the shelving?

Ahem, yes! A little discipline starting at an early age would be a good thing.
