Default Gibson J-45

What price is a good price for a new Gibson J-45? I know Martins but not Gibson’s. Also, any guidelines for a 1 year old used J-45 in very good condition? Thanks in advance for any help!

A standard J45 today

https://www.chicagomusicexchange.com...burst/14735372

MAPS at $2749, and can be bought for about $2300 by negotiating.

Used, a recent similar model in great condition tends to trade at about $1800.

Some J-45s built "vintagely" can go up to around $5,000.

This one is a new model, available for pre-order:

Here's a range of different ones at a good on-line place:

Thanks guys. That really gives me a base line. I’ve found a used 2019 J-45 Standard heritage cherry sunburst in very good condition. Reputable dealer online. He sent me a video of it. Of course not the same as being able to play it myself. But still sounds really good. I got him down to $1799 out the door and free shipping. I see that is a reasonable price.

In very good condition that’s a good deal.

Good luck with your purchase.....I cannot say enough about my J45....it is a 2018 with plenty of miles left on her. I am hoping to purchase a J29 to go along with it.....hopefully sooner than later!!

Nice find. I have a 2016 standard. I don't play it as much as I should, but when I pick it up I don't want to put it down. Let us know how it turns out.

Thanks guys for your input and support. I love hearing how others are appreciating their J-45’s. This will be my first Gibson. I have had many Martins. Still love the Martin mahogany tone. I have a Martin D-18V now. Beautiful tone. I will be keeping that guitar and adding the Gibson. I just want something different. I have heard many J-45’s. Love those as well. Hopefully this one will be a beauty both in tone and the heritage cherry sunburst. But most important is that Gibson J-45 tone. I’ll keep you guys updated. Thanks again!

I was lucky enough a couple months ago to pick up a 2006 J-45 Standard vintage sunburst in excellent condition for $1,600 w/case. My first USA Gibson acoustic after having been a Martin guy for many years. Loving the big, woody mahogany sound and the short scale. A real keeper.

If you can, play as many J-45’s that are available and try the Custom with rosewood back and sides. While I do love a good price, tone trumps savings.

I bought my used 2002 Gibson J 45 on this forum for $1200 eight years ago. Supposedly had a problem with the neck, but when I took it to a luthier he said it was fine. Best deal I ever have and one of two guitars that I will never sell.

This thread is pretty old and prices are elevated right with discounts hard to come by. I’d feel pretty good if I could get a J45 for $2300 before tax right now. A lot of folks are holding to MAP.

I’ve loved J45s over the years, but have settled on a great D35.

The J45s were always super comfortable to play.
