Need recording tools and advice
I want to record myself playing a few of my guitars to help me make some decisions on which will stay and which ones I need to sell based on the tones I've grown to love and other tones not doing it for me. I can figure most of it out by listening to myself play but I want to record some really good samples so I don't make a decision I'll regret.
So my situation is: Living room or bedroom in house, not soundproof iPhone Macbook Pro Guitars without pickups What mics and tools do I need without spending a ton of money to get the best samples to help me really hear what the guitars sound like from the front side? Thanks |

Ask this question on the Record section of the forum (and read the prior threads on this topic that are there).

Honestly, just using Music Memos on your iPhone should give you a good starting point. If you want to go up in fidelity and add a microphone to the mix, I highly recommend the Apogee Mic. Plug and play with both your iPhone and MacBook Pro.

USB mic might be good for you too.
It's a real rabbit hole this recording stuff. You might just want to ask a friend to play your guitars so you can listen

Palsed-
Here is a live recording in a living room with a couple of friends, some cheap mics and cheap guitars. Singer had never done this song before so cut her some slack but feel free to message me if you want some tips. Looks like we are in the same general area. |

The Zoom Hxx series of recording devices (such as H1n, H4n) can produce some good-quality, reasonable fidelity recordings. Available new from $99 of used on eBay or Reverb.com.

How much you want to spend ?
I've done fantastic acoustic recordings using Apogee Mic .. plug right into iPhone or Mac. GarageBand app is free. Easy as pie. Great sound .. Apogee 96k https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/used/...&lsft=BI%3A514 |
