Postage Rate Increase 1/27/2019...

I'm sure many of you pay bills online, but for those of us who remain committed to mailing our bills, note that the cost of Forever Stamps goes up $.05 tomorrow. Go to the USPS website https://www.usps.com, and you can purchase the following music-themed stamps....

USPS Announces Postage Rate Increase – Starts January 27, 2019. The First Class Mail letter (1 oz.) rate for postage purchased at the Post Office is increasing by five cents to $0.55 from $0.50.

Thanks for the reminder. I will go over to the self-serve kiosk after dinner and stock up on a bunch of forever stamps before the price jumps.

I bought two rolls of those any time stamps last week. So I should be set for a couple of years anyway.

We went to the post office and bought 10 books/rolls - whatever they call them. They should last a while. Forever stamps are........... forever.

Went to the PO and bought 200 stamps (20 sheets of ten) from the automated machine, still at 50 cents each. That should last me a good long time, perhaps a couple of years. I mentioned aloud that the price was changing tonight, and several other folks in the lobby checking their PO boxes bought extras too. RP's good deed of the day........

200 stamps would literally last me the rest of my lifetime.

I'm in the UK. I have no idea how much stamps cost.
My wife buys stamps because she sends birthday cards and such to her many female friends (and often mine). I don't do cards.

All our monthly and periodic bills are paid by direct debit.

Other bills are paid by direct bank transfer.

Don't even need cash in town now as even small amounts can be paid by swiping a card.

I keep some coin in the car for car parks and have some notes in my wallet but rarely use them.

Thanks. Although my ladyfriend would disagree, I do try to get in at least a single good deed each day....

I run a small business and still pay my bills the old fashioned way - with checks. I don't like giving outside companies access to my checking account for electronic payments, nor do I accept EFT for payment at my business. My bank won't let me place a limit on a given transaction, so authorizing EFT at all gives that company full access to my account for any amount they debit.

It only takes one episode of a $150 debit mistakenly entered as a $15,000 debit to sour you on the experience. There were a month's worth of bounced checks. It took a year, considerable time, and many letters to sort all that out and get fees reversed. Once the error was all settled I promptly switched banks. So I will keep using the old school US Snail for bill paying and therefore need some stamps. We also send out Christmas cards still. This batch will probably last almost two years. By then the cost of postage will probably be $1.

I don't do anything financial online - write checks and mail them. Always drop off mail inside the post office. I've been told there's medicine for having to do that, but I don't think I need it.
