Default pickup install Q

I have a real technical question re: taking out the pin where the jack goes.

So I don't do damage i.e. try to pull out a nail when it is actually a screw, is the strap button/peg on the rear usually screwed in or does it have a pin on it and nailed in as it were?

mine is plastic - no visible screw - does not mean there isn't one.

it wouldn't be glued in would it?

I am not queasy about doing this, but I don't want to screw up either.

thanks.

If it looks more or less like this, then it is a tapered pin in a tapered hole. No screws.

It doesn't need to be, but it might be. If you can't remove it by twisting it by hand, cover it with a towel and use pliers to turn it. Ensure that you don't mark the finish of the guitar with the pliers.

If it should happen to shear while twisting, it can always be drilled out.

I worked on a guitar once that it was glued in and couldn't budge it. I ended up cutting it flush with the body, then drilling it out.

Just give it a good twist with some pliers.

Not the most fun thing I've done. there was an extra piece of wood 1/2" wide 1/4" thick over the the top of a larger block on the end where the end pin jack went. I had to remove at least 1/8" material to get it to come out the back. Of course when I was done I had a better idea how to do that part of it.

I used the super glue method vs. the double stick tape. The jig worked well for the 1st and last one but I somehow got the middle transducer off its intended mark. It is directly under the D string instead between D and G.

I am thinking this would/will not have a noticeable affect (to my untrained ear) and so decided to leave well enough alone - as in don't break what ain't broke. Am I going to notice the G string not getting enough attention?

I am in the process of borrowing an amp so I can't check to see if it works - yet.

thanks

Is it the 3 element pickup?
Might notice a little difference, but you won't know till you string it up. Go for it!

Lots of them are glued in these days so as mentioned cut it off and then drill.
