Default My Tele-build

This is a very quick work video. It's got lyrics, but I'm still fleshing out the final arrangement. I'm playing through a Fender Princeton Reverb w/JBL D123 speaker, and bridged into my Fishman Loudbox Performer. The tremolo is from the Fender, and the delay is built into the Loudbox. I just laid a Shure MV88 mic down between the amps and hit record with no monitoring. The mic is plugged into my iPhone 6S.

Oh boy, that was really cool. I love it. I assume that's your original.?? Very unique and you executed the style very well.

I'll refer back to this often. Congrats on that one.

Thanks! Glad you liked it. You should check out my web site.

I write just about all my own music, aside from a handful of covers that are very unique.

My motto regarding covers is "If you don't have anything new to say, play the record".

Howard

Interesting set up. It's amazing what tools are around for recording now.

So are you saying you built that Tele? More on that?

Yes, I did, with a Warmoth body and neck. I had John Monteleone shoot the finish for me.

I had Pete Biltoft make the pickups for me. I picked out all the hardware and also had a hum cancelling system built by Ilitch Kuriatchky (sp). I had Mike Christian do the assembly.

I spec’d Dunlop SS6100 fret wire, a boatneck profile with 1.75” nut width, etc. It’s really easy to have a great electric with the available items.

The hard part is knowing what you need as a player, but for me that’s easy because I’m not concerned with tradition.

Regards,
Howard Emerson

Hi Howard,

I wouldn't mind having a Tele like that myself! It sounds awesome!

Hi Matt,
I'm using .013-.054 D'Addario, actually.

Aside from the tonal differences, I really try to make my electrics feel like my acoustics.

I can still bend the strings easily given the large fret wire, and I am tuned to open D.

Ciao,
How

That is some ace playing. I love the tone too. 13s--wow. It's so full and deep and clear, that Tele.
