...I have dreamed about playing guitar....but most of my guitar dreams are about not being able to play.....recurring Performance anxiety dreams where I am trying to play but never get to....very frustrating...

My dreams had me jamming with Hendrix, Garcia, learning a Moby Grape Song from Peter Lewis, and most recently playing Clapton’s new guitar. After really good concerts I dream about music quite vividly.

I frequently come up with (to me) great riffs and melodies in my mind and in my dreams I can actually play them.

Did you ever remember them later when you woke up?

That happened to me sometimes in the 60s-70s as a teen when I was teaching myself basic barre chord rock and pentatonic box patterns. I believe my brain already grasped the riff at that point (from repetition with the record player), and it just boiled down to stacking the mechanics/muscle memory. "Ohhhh, yeah, this is a lot like that other song I learned last week!"

I'd love to dream up "solutions" now to the more complex bucket-list stuff I hope to learn (like a legit rendition of Classical Gas). But progress takes discipline. Maybe if I focus on specific passages every day, I can "practice" those bite-size chunks in my dreams.

Dreamt last night that I was at a friend's house just noodling on my acoustic. Started playing Bell Bottom Blues and realized Eric Clapton was there playing along. That's my first celebrity jam in a dream. I hope there are more.

Dreamt last night that I was noodling on my acoustic guitar at a friend's house (don't remember who it was). Someone in the room started playing Bell Bottom Blues, so I joined in. Looked up and realized Eric Clapton was the other player. That's my first "celebrity jam" in a dream. I hope there are more.
