Default NGD: Taylor 327e

Played one of these last week at the local shop, and had it "stolen" out from under me by another customer that was trying it out.

They got another one in this week, and it sounded just as good. And a lot better, IMO, than the 517e they also had in stock when I went back.

Not often that you can save money and get the better-sounding guitar!

I love the "darker" tone of this guitar.

Since I now have finally adopted a "one in / one out" policy, I had to part with my Taylor 320e baritone (2014 spring limited) as a trade-in. Nice guitar, but I just never found the use for the baritone.

Fortunately, I somehow had a credit on my Discover card that covered the cost of this transaction. Felt like a free guitar!

Congrats! I LOVE mine. The combo of the GP body with mahogany and Blackwood produces a uniquely warm tone (especially for a Taylor) - full, round and soulful with plenty of volume and punch. Enjoy!

I laughed when I read this, because I did the same thing to a customer when I bought my 414 in 2002. He ended up following me quite a ways in the car after I left the store. I had already played it the day before and when I went back to get it, he was playing it. I waited patiently and after he put it back and walked away, I snatched it up.

Anyway, congrats on your new 327e! Sounds like it worked out well for you in the end. Can you post some pics for us?

I have not yet had a chance to try the 327, but since I have a 2019 322 with the same tone wood combo I have been itching to hear how the 327 compares to my GC sized guitar. I know it's apples & oranges but the tone of my 322 has me thinking the GP sized guitar has to be great.

I really wish they offered this one without electronics!

I haaaaate those dumb buttons and think it spoils the look of an otherwise gorgeous guitar.

You can order any Taylor guitar w/o electronics through any dealer. They just don't tend to stock too many of them in stores.

I keep reading around here that no factory electronics will kill your resale for a Taylor...I see this mentioned time and time again...Something to keep in mind...

Cheers

Congrats on the 327e! I think it's great that Taylor brought the Grand Pacific shape to the 300 series.

As great as the Taylor baritone is, that 27" scale length sometimes gets lost in every day playing.

I played one Wednesday sans electronics. Beautiful guitar, but not for me. I am still shopping.IMG_7038.jpg

I don't mind the buttons so much as the three screws in the bridge. Quite happy with both the performance and the non-bridge-mangling-ness of the ES1.3.

They do offer 327s without electronics. I played one recently in a Taylor Road Show.

Congratulations on the new Taylor 327, I played one yesterday for the first time and was impressed.

I laughed at your “stolen” story as that almost happened to me. I found a used Eastman E15SS at a guitar store that sounded and felt perfect. As I was playing it another customer was howering around. He finally said he wanted to play it when I was finished. I told him I was buying it and I never put it down

Enjoy your new Taylor..........and pictures are required or it never really happened

I have heard that, as well. However, I have been a Taylor owner for 23 years and have owned a bunch. Most of them I purchased w/o the ES, and added my own pickup. I have not experienced any issues with selling. (other than wishing I hadn't sold a few ).

I could include a long list of the Taylors that I've sold in the past twelve months that didn't have factory electronics so I just don't think that generalization is true...
