Default Convolution, IRs, and the big dome of Hagia Sophia

I will admit to being a history nerd, a music nerd, and an audio nerd, so this story pushes a lot of nerd buttons for me. If you've been in recording over the last few years you've probably heard of "convolution." If you've been in electric guitars the last few years you've probably heard of IRs or "impulse responses." Someone just pulled off one of the biggest IR and convolution captures in history. More at NPR, HERE.

That is very cool. What a recording space that could be...... If only Guess the impulse will have to do)
I am old enough to remember and have listened to the 1969 release of Paul Horn "Inside", recorded inside the Taj Mahal

There is a few in the audio interview (the blue Bar that is titled "4 minute Listen) ? They start about 30+ seconds in where they first play the studio version of the choir chant (regular reverb) then play the version using the Hagia Sophia IR.

I lived in Istanbul for five years and visited the Hagia a few times - never took my guitar though!
