Sorry to highjack a thread but had to ask.
I went to Lafayette College which is down the road from the Martin factory.

Otherwise, we going to have to invent new adjectives to describe the extraspectacular or the really really super duper spectacular.
If we are getting semantical:
spec·tac·u·lar
/spekˈtakyələr/

adjective
beautiful in a dramatic and eye-catching way.
"spectacular mountain scenery"

I like red heads and Takamine. Wouldn't say no to a Gibson either.

Mister Tauber, it is a small world.

In almost 50 years of playing, I've never played a Martin that I didn't play.

Huh??!? Wha??!?

That being said, there are several builders who can "out Martin, a Martin", but usually they cost far more, than the D-18, or D28's, they are modeled after...
Of course, there are guitar snobs who enjoy disparaging Martin's quality, and it's rank & file of admirers. I suspect they are the same ones, when they were kids, who enjoyed telling younger children, that Santa Claus wasn't real?

They definitely have quality problems. Any company selling at their scale will. You can’t call me a snob for saying this either. Have you seen my stable? They make some really nice guitars to be sure, but just review some of the purchase stories on this very forum concerning Martin. Some have had some really bad experiences. This is a fact. They are not snobs. They are living proof of the problems that definitely do exist with Martin. You don’t hear similar quality problem stories with Taylor as an example. There’s something to it. I have seen some really nice ones in stores and I’ve seen many with finish issues as well....Mixed bag...

This thread is spectacular. I've posted in quite a few and read hundreds in AGF forums over the years. Responses are consistent in tone and quality. That's all. Carry on.

Forgot to mention a few tipping points.
1. Bob sells direct and I highly doubt the equivalent Martin would be less than $8-10k.
2. Bob offers a nice bevel, which comes in handy for a shorty like me. I typically need this on deep and/or big acoustics like DNs, jumbos, etc.
3. Managed to find a nice piece of Brazilian for my OM. Sounds great and I kinda doubt I could afford a Martin like that.
