Nice to hear from all of you folks! I really appreciate the feedback and encouragement. John Hurt makes these things these things sound exceedingly simple and laid-back but I don’t find them that way. On the bright side I’ve learned to play through my mistakes

Great job on this Bob! That sounds good!

I remember hearing one particularly good player do this song at coffee houses when I was in college. I don't remember the lyrics, but then I never hear lyrics when I'm listening to a song the first time anyway!

Well done on that version of Candyman, good work. Not as easy as it sounds, as lots of people have said.
One thing I learnt a while back was to keep playing, learn to keep things moving whether you hit the notes you want or not, especially in public! It's ok to be surprised and laugh when something goes awry if you keep the song rolling.
Seriously, good for you. When you have the rhythm and the movement through the chords holding it together, it gets much easier to focus on intention, expression and enjoying playing.
