Default I hate to be THAT guy....

......that asks the question but I will be. I know what I like on my woodies.... what are people putting on their Rainsong? Strings, that is. Not bumper stickers.

OK, I guess I answered my own question. Rainsong recommends the Elixir 11502's..... I've read a few posts here where people put these on their Emeralds too... so I ordered a family pack. I'll be set for a while.

I prefer the Elixir PB11s. The G-string of Elixir (and other brands) 11s is actually a smaller gauge (22) than what is used on 10s (23) and 12s (24). Probably a historical anomaly as 11s were the last to hit the market. I start to damage an 80/20 22 G string in less than a month where PB can take it.

Also a bit less bright out of the box.

Currently have my Hawaiian Rainsong Jumbo strung with medium Martin Retro strings.
The silver color goes nicely with the shark inlays, and they sound good too!

A month? I change strings weekly, two weeks at the most.

I have the Martin retros on some of my Martins, hadn't thought about putting them on the CF..... hmmmm. Have to think about that.

do you play fingerstyle at all? Retros are great IMO on RainSong guitars for fingerstyle. So mellow and sweet- just like on mahogany.

Nope, I use a tool. (pick, lol)

Pretty happy with what it came with (the 11502's)

Those are going away though, but I agree, those are very nice strings and I prefer them over Elixir.

The EXP's sound good, but were pretty hard on my fingers for some reason. I've tried a lot of strings on the X20, but always seem to end up back with the Elixir Nano PB lights. They are are good compromise between tone, price and feel.

I usually use the Elixir PB on my CF guitars, but really liked the Martin LJ’s choice strings on the Shorty.
