Default Homemade Dinner Tonight

It is in the 40s and raining, so a bit brisk. My wife decided to make a hearty dinner:
Homemade beef stew
Homemade farmhouse bread fresh from the oven
Big tumblers of ice cold water

Followed by:
Homemade oatmeal raisin cookies, fresh from the oven, with extra cinnamon for me
Homemade butterscotch brownies for her

I drank milk with the cookies. She brewed mint tea for herself, made in homemade tea bags filled with loose black tea and peppermint and spearmint from her garden.

Mmmmm... Comfort food. And think of the vitamins,

Bob

Yeah, kinda krappy here as well. Insta-pot brisket, baked potatoes, asparagus. A bit of red wine to round it out and there's dessert but I'm on a need to know basis, and apparently I don't need to know.

Whenever I have pizza at home, I always have milk as the drink.

Chicken Harissa :
Two chicken breasts cubed and marinated in lemon juice and rose harissa.

Harissa is a hot, aromatic spice paste widely used in North African and Middle Eastern cooking).

Bed of diced onions, sweet peppers, cauliflower, carrot and sweet potatoes (and anything else that's in season) tossed in garlic and olive oi.

Home made Tsatsiki - (Greek yoghurt and diced cucumber with lemon juice). and Basmati ice with raisins.

Leave the veg to soak up the oil, then under the grill until just starting to burn then chicken with harissa/lemon marinade over all, back under the grill, boil rice, serve with Tsatsiki and a chilled Chilean Sauvignon.

Sometimes I do it with three different fish in green harissa.

We had some neighbors over for a "stick a fork in winter" dinner.

Pork loin on the grill, cheesy potatoes, and fresh green beans with bacon. My wife is an outstanding cook.

Several bottles of nice chardonnay, and lemon poppyseed cake with cream cheese frosting for dessert. And a nice snort of Woodford Reserve Double-Oaked for a couple of us.

It was a nice evening, lots of laughs.

I’ll be right over. Don’t eat all the cookies before I get there.

Sounds delicious. It doesn't get any better than that.

A hearty beef stew and homemade bread is the perfect cold weather meal. Of course homemade cookies and brownies need no specific weather to enjoy...

At the gluten free, vegitarian house:

Cauliflower crust basil pesto pizza topped with fresh sliced tomatoes and melted/browned parmesean, with a CA Pinot Noir. Yummy goodness, and good for you too.

Very nice.

Beyond the quality and pleasure, my wife and I have been thinking our efforts to have our 3 kids part of making food and eating at home was sort of automatic parenting help. A funny twist where just good food was the main self or selfish interest but it had positive benefits.

At times we get mistaken for picky about food with people not getting we just value the quality, home and made with love elements I see in Bob's post.
