The Silures were a loose confederation of Celtic tribes, occupying the area I live, South East Wales at the time of the Roman occupation.

The term was later used for the Silurian geological period and is also the name of a species of lizard aliens in the Sci fi series Doctor Who.

I chose it purely because it's a cool sounding word.

I live in the lovely little town of Port Hope on the north shore of Lake Ontario, thus the "PH". My name, "Jim" is hardly unique, so "PHJim" it is.

That's his name & he's a Blue Heeler (Aust. Cattle Dog).

The girls at the kennels took this one & a couple more a year or 2 back when I was on holidays.

Every time I go near him with a camera or smartphone he cowers & slinks away lol.

Nearly 13 yr old & still going strong.

Now, now, let's get our "History" straight. The Silurians are terrans. They were the First intelligent species of earth.

Cool idea for a thread as I've often wondered on some of the whacky screen names. As for mine, way back when I waded into the internet and began to need a screen name I was into the television series spinoff of the movie Highlander. Methos was a recurring character that was the oldest living immortal, so old that he didn't know how old he was, exactly (somewhere around 5,000 years old). I combined that with the year I graduated from high school.

We've had lots of dogs but Ozzy was very special. A mighty handsome chap and very loyal companion. Named 'Ozzy' because he was black and we picked him from the rescue center on a Sunday.

Ozzy passed just before Christmas last year but he was 17 years old which was very good for his breed.

Dirk Hofman Motorhomes is a company that rents campers for the Tour de France (and obviously anything else) but they gained cycling fame by doing guerilla advertising at the key points and finishes of many major races. The "Dirk Hofman Motorhomes" sign was ubiquitous in the late 90s and early 2000s, and became kind of a meme in the cycling world. I'm a huge cycling fan and my family is from Flanders, the region where much of this goes down.

And I don't post my real name on internet forums because...why. I work in technology and have seen what kind of things people can do with VERY limited information.

Well, mine's a lot less imaginative than most, but when I joined the forum it was called the Taylor Guitar Forum. Since Taylor guitars were about all that anyone talked about back then it seemed to make sense.

I was heavy into river rafting.
I had just gotten a wolf adoption sponsorship in a sanctuary in Idaho.
There is no such wolf as a Riverwolf.
