Default Will removing my strings ruin the tone?

Was thinking of taking the strings off and playing without. Will it ruin the tone? Does it matter if the strings were PB or monel?

It depends a bit on what you sound like with strings on the guitar. :-)

I think you'll get a clearer more consistent tone, Monel or PB

With no strings you won't hit any bad notes.

You'll be able to play "4 minutes 33 seconds" by John Cage.

It would be like playing an air guitar... no strings attached

Actually Wade the bicycle riders helmets are more like this here at the moment.(those are cable ties)

Due to swooping attacks from mating Magpies.

However, as one Canberra postman discovered, if you take to feeding them during the year they will befriend you and not attack in mating season - he never leaves home without a muesli bar or two to feed the Magpies and has not been attacked since.

You'll really be able to hear the difference between Sitka and Engelmann once you've eliminated the source of that jangly metallic sound.
