NGD: Farida OT-22
Just received the OT-22 from Elderly a couple hours ago. Physically, it’s a very nice looking guitar. Everything I wanted as an LG copy. Set up is very nice, but seems a bit high, but I’m not disappointed in any way. They list it as coming with D’Addario EJ16’s. No complaints but I’m definitely looking to put monels on it to try out. Fretboard seems dry and frets could be polished.
Tone? For being in the 00 category, it sounds really nice and full. Sounds much larger than the Alvarez AP66 I owned a few years ago, which I had no complaints about. Overall, first impression is very favorable!!

Beautiful! Mine gets 90 per cent of my playing time, it just feels and sounds right to me. I'm not a monel fan but have not tried them on this guitar, just PB's. Let us know how they work out. Congrats!!

You're going to really enjoy that guitar. Mine had Monels on it when I got it, but I have never liked them on any guitar. I put John Pearse 600L PB lights on it in a couple of days and those really worked on that guitar. It will also open up a bit and start sounding even richer the more you play it. I would also suggest spending some time strumming it pretty aggressively as part of your playing routine as the guitar is breaking in. Have fun with it, they are great little guitars.

Congrats those are neat guitars. I’d love to try the wide neck version someday.

Very nice! I have thought for some time now that those Elderly OT-22 were excellent guitars. It really looks nice! Congratulations!

Nice. The LGs were ever present back in my youth, so the sound and feel of them feels like home to me. I’ve heard much good about those new Faridas. Enjoy.

Lillis, I went with the “normal” width because I’m a strummer and just don’t seem to like wider nut widths. It’s the primary reason I just sold my Larrivee. I didn’t think it would bother me as much as it did. And I have huge hands, so go figure!!

You'll definitely enjoy it. I love my OT-22W. Mine seemed to open up after a few months (and by that I mean I feel like it became more resonant and the bass became even deeper/louder). I also put Martin Retro Monels on mine and love it (after a break-in period of course). Keep it properly humidified - it's definitely a lightly-built guitar (which is why it sounds so great for such a small guitar).

Congratulations. Interesting timing. I just picked one up from Austin Vintage Guitars. Has anyone ever tried GHS 85/15 Vintage Bronze strings on theirs?
That is definitely an attractive guitar. |

My OT-22W currently wears GHS Thincores. I also have it tuned down a half-step (other than my 12 string guitars, this is the only guitar tuned down this way). Beautiful.

Does Elderly Instruments have an exclusive on Farida guitars? I’ve never seen any in music stores, only on Elderly’s website.
Just curious…. Wade Hampton Miller |

I wonder if Elderly would order a batch with maple plywood back and sides stained dark like the 1944 LG-2 rather than mahogany ply back and sides (which is great too!).
