We all do, Glenn. Toby's got the market cornered on middle aged guy with a guitar looking sharp in a hat....

I generally don't like a hat under most stage lighting - the performer's face goes dark. Plus wearing a gives me "hat hair" so once I do it is on for the day. Either of Toby's choices look fine to me.

But I have been known to wear a Stetson on stage - and not do a single country song in the whole set.

A hat with a propeller is always a good look.

You could always turn the ball cap around to the side or rear, and shazammm!,
you will feel and look 20 years younger

Seriously ---Fedora, Panama, or a Montana Peak cowboy hat with a flat or downturned brim are all good looks IMO

Turning a ballcap to the rear drops your IQ by 20 points(unless you're a catcher), and turning it to the side costs you 50 points.

Bald headed men need hats! A friend of mine (who didn't think so) had to have two patches of melanoma removed from his head. The doctor told him to wear a hat when out in the sun at all times.

I have a small collection (10 or so). Greek fisherman's cap in denim, newsboy in black leather, driving cap in tan knit, two fedoras one in black one in olive green, gambler style cowboy hats one in black one in straw, two straw fedoras one in tight weave one in open weave, and one beat up straw hat for working in the yard.

That's the best! By the way, I'm a University of Texas grad, and Texas A&M is our most hotly contested rival.

Absolutely poor decision making and deficit points , all part of being younger, thus he will look and feel younger

There seems to come a time in a man's life when he knows to get a "real" hat... I have a Stetson that I wear in cold or rainy weather; it's more of a fedora, I suppose.

Many times you can find a store that's having a sale on really good quality hats; that's how I got my Stetson for 35% off an already good price.

One important suggestion: Spend the time to SEE THE HAT ON YOUR HEAD so you can determine whether it "works" for you, BEFORE YOU BUY IT!

Unfortunately, when I bought mine, it was because a friend (hat wearer) told me about the sale at this particular store which was on my buddy's route back home to Portland. I looked on line at various styles, got my real hat size and picked one out... it's a great hat and I've "grown into it", but I should have looked at it ON MY HEAD before I bought it!

A good hat will last a lifetime with a little care and feeding... don't cheap out! Get a good 'un...

Check out Tilley hats, available at good outdoors stores.
I wear mine for fishing, tractor work, outside farmer’s market gigs...not balding yet but my fore head has turned into a five head and I need the sun protection
