I've owned this guitar for several years and love it. I am partial to Yamahas. They have increased in price since I bought one - they used to list for $899 or $999 brand new.

You might check Reverb - there are often used ones available and likely at lower prices than the new GC price you are looking at, such as this one:

Not buying from Guitar Center, I'm getting a new one for $1129. from a local mom and pop store. This particular guitar plays great, and I'm hoping to put money down on it Tuesday.

I hate to say this but IMO that is way crazy paying $1129. Save your money and wait till the right deals shows up. I bought my LS16 ARE Rosewood basically in unplayed condition with OHSC for $375 last week. At least wait till they are being restocked at the major retailers such as Sweetwater. You can pre-order now @$899.

The LS and LL Yamaha's are the exact retail price. Same woods and specs etc. Just different body shapes. It's your money so over pay if you want...

Not over paying....different body shape = different sounding guitar. Compared to a Martin this is a steal.

That's not the same guitar. Your link is for the regular LL16.

Here is the sweetwater link for the LL16D (D for deluxe) version.

The deluxe is the same guitar with a lot of cosmetic enhancements. Really nicely done imo.

I'd like to know how the yamaha's compare to the eastman e1d...for 4 bills less ? I can't hands-on test and truthfully when I listen to the yamaha reviews, they sound thin...on youtube...compared to the eastman's. And to the op...yes your price seems high but maybe you can use online prices to get them to go down.

no, i'll pay his price as he's working with me on terms, no shipping, availability. The guitar blows my old D-35 away at almost half the price....

His price is accurate. The LL16/LS16 retail for $899. USD.

The LL16D/LS16D retail for $1129. USD (D is for deluxe)

The links are in my post above. I feel the cosmetic enhancements are worth the extra $229. USD. But that's just me.

As for youtube videos, check out how nice this LL16 sounds.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JdkK-I-KJW4

And just for giggles, check out the sound of this high end Yamaha LL56 guitar. Fast forward if you wish to the 21:00 minute mark and wait a few seconds to hear how wonderful the guitar sounds on this rendition of "Both sides now" by Joni Mitchell..

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r3ZFZ8n2WoI

Enjoy.

Apologies... I didn't get the LL16D part. Lovely guitar and that price is more than fair. Mea Culpa.

sorry I didn't get the 'D'. I didn't realize yamaha made that model. Yes ... I saw the Cormier video. You're right. His is quite nice. I love Yamaha's. I wish they had an L model with the srt preamp. Their mic IR's are really great.
