I learned a long time ago not to take anything Rolling Stone writes very seriously.

I would agree with maybe 3 of their choices.

I suppose somewhere in their article Rolling Stone gives their definition of "best" as it relates to the list. If I had any interest whatsoever in what Rolling Stone thinks about anything I might read it to find out. But . . .

Junk media. They publish lists like this just as a PR ploy. Otherwise, nobody'd be talking about them.

The list is questionable, but I have a question for you older members? Do you think the top 500 list (or maybe the top 20 of the list) should be locked for the future and only have songs from 60s/70s for the next 100 years?

I'm younger but I don't even listen to these songs in the top 20, but new music does come out that's good even though you've never heard it.

Hey Rob-- I think Jason Isbell is the best songwriter since Dylan. I love The Milk Carton Kids, Shawn Mullins and Jamey Johnson. They are all a couple of decades or so younger than me. Does that help?
