Default sunnaudio stage di 2

was inquiring about the stage di 1 and discovered this was coming out soon.
the wait seems worthwhile.

Thanks for inquiring about the Stage DI-2. The distinguishing features are:
Adjustable high pass filter
Adjustable boost
Dedicated mute and boost footswitch with LED illuminated color coded controls like the MS-2
3-way power with 48V phantom (XLR), internal battery, external DC
Bass, treble and mid EQ with internal mid-freq trim
1Meg/5Meg internal input impedance switch
Internal presence contour switch
Super compact rugged case
Same warm rich tones as MS-2 and Stage DI-1
We will be offering AGF members a discount plus an additional discount to all our Sunnaudio customers. Applying both introductory discounts will bring the price below the Stage DI-1.

Cheers,
Sunny

Interesting .... makes me think this is like a single channel version of the ms-2? If so, I’m very interested! The ms-2 has always interested me but I’ve no need for the 2 channels.

It is. The biggest difference is the mid control. The MS-2 has the ability to change the frequencies you boost or cut. The new unit will just be a boost or cut for a pre selected set of frequencies. I have been waiting for the single channel for a long time. I couldn’t hold out so I bought the two channel version. Oh well, and now here it comes. I have no patience.

So the Sunnaudio is focused on Dazzo pickups. What if you have multiple guitars? Wouldn't it be better to have a something like a Tonedexter for the other guitar or any guitars that may be yours in the future that need help?

Again I'm not speaking from experience as I have very little in this area. The only drawback on the Tonedexter is the need for AC supply or you can get a relatively inexpensive battery pack to power it, but that's one more thing to carry.

I do have wireless so that would make powering the Tonedexter from AC a little easier.

The Stage DI-2 is essentially a single channel of the MS-2.
It does have internal frequency range adjustments for the bass and mid controls!
The Stage DI, DI-2, and MS-2 preamps can be used with just about any piezo or magnetic pickups.
The stage DI-2 also works excellent with existing instruments and their built in preamps.

I did an outdoor gig today with the new Mojotone soudhole pickup into a single channel of the MS-2 into a Bose S-1 Pro. All battery powered (I have a battery powered pedal board). It was in a public park. It sounded awesome! My clients were happy. I did it with 1 trip from/to the car! That made me happy

I really like my MS-2, so I'm sure the single channel version will be great to.

Sunnaudio collaborates with Teddy, but I would not say their preamps are focused on Dazzo - they're good, clean, musical preamps that work with any pickup. ToneDexter is a totally different animal - Sunnaudio is about passing your signal thru an all-analog circuit, clean and clear. ToneDexter is about digitally processing your signal with an IR that you create to completely change the sound of your pickup. The choice depends on what you need (I use both...)

Looking forward to its release, I’d been thinking about an Alix, but the upcoming Stage DI 2 is exactly what i am looking for!

I understand the differences, but if you could only buy one, which one would you choose?

Corrrection: only the Mid control has an internal trim, not the bass. We should have some of these in the next few weeks.
Cheers

The core of the SunnAudio sound is the wide frequency linear gain stage. I was a huge RedEye fanboy until I A/Bd it with the DI 1. Good and gooder, as they say. I could honestly live with the gain stage only, but I have six Dazzo equipped guitars. I rarely touch the EQ of my DI 1. And yes, The SunnAudio is not just for Dazzo equipped guitars, it's just a great match. I think the DI 2 will find a place with guys needing to cut above a band when they solo.

sunnaudio....is the volume control 'gain' or 'volume'?
Does it control the DI out or just the 1/4" out? Is DI out post or Pre EQ?
I have passive
pickups, Sunrise & BlackStack, and use the original Stage DI via XLR to
get enough 'loudness'. It sounds wonderful, but I struggle with
'loudness' if I use 1/4 inch. I looked for a manual on your site;
when will one be available?

Thanks.

Hi Meb, the “Vol” on the stage D1-2 is the output volume. The boost will give you 8db more output for a total of 16db. This applies to both XLR and 1/4” outs.
If you need more output we can modify it for you.

I think it depends on what you need. Do you need a good clean preamp, or something that corrects for deficiencies of your pickup? As I mentioned, I use both - I use ToneDexter for it's "effect" ability, and the sunnaudio MS-2 for it's ability to blend my pickup and mic, creating stereo, and for its EQ abilities.
