Default NGD: Epiphone Casino

I was wanting a new thinline fully hollow electric and debated between a Casino with P90s or a Gretsch 5422T. I love Gretsch but I'm a huge P90 fan and the Epi is cheaper. Will post a real pic later, but here is the one I bought.

Lookin good BD, Casino and a Vox, can't go wrong there! You've got a classic combo!

I know the sound well, but unfortunately I had to sell the Gibson, to buy my Gretsch 6120T '55VS. I still miss that guitar!

Dig your new burst Casino! I wanted the burst but it wasn't in stock so I wound up with a natural and I love it. I did ditch the Epi pickups (they were a little hot for me) and replaced with Kent Armstrong dog-ear p90's.
Congrats and enjoy!

Same here - got a Peerless-built Carlo Robelli (Sam Ash house brand) ES-5 knockoff, 2011 Gibson limited-edition LP '60s Tribute goldtop, and a Godin CW II - but unless somebody at Epiphone's Chinese factory finally woke up you might find the neck troublesome over the long haul. Unfortunately, when Epi moved production from Korea to China circa 2008 they also adopted what they like to call the "Slim Taper D" neck - in actuality none of those, instead being a cheeky, chunky, thick-shouldered hard-D profile that appears to have been designed with the hand structure of a chimpanzee in mind; I own a 2012 Ultra 339, and while the pickups are excellent (every bit the equal of the first-generation PAF reissues I had in my '86 SG '61 RI) I can't play it for more than 20-30 minutes without incurring serious hand pain - as good as it looks/sounds, IME if you're used to the rounder/friendlier contours of a Gretsch you might want to do an extended workout or three (as well as a side-by-side A/B comparison) before you make your final decision...

The neck doesn't bother me at all on this Casino. I'm not sure how it relates to others, but I think a D shape sounds about right. I have a lot of guitar necks here and they vary significantly. I even have a few banjos and mandolins! So, I am used to a variety of shapes and sizes.

So far, I like the difference between the Casino and the Gretsch guitars I own. The Casino sounds more "open" than the Gretsch guitars, even my g5420t. I suppose you could call it "jangly"? The P90s are nice and I doubt I'll swap them, even though. I am often inclined to do so. I gather finding the right pickups for these Epis can be a mess.

The stock P90s aren't bad. I listened to a comparison on YouTube and I honestly think the stock pickups sounded better overall than the Lollars.
