Try wiring you Strat's bridge pickup to the second tone control. Wire the middle pickup to the first tone control along with the neck pickup.

That way you can roll off the bridge pickup's treble and get a fatter sound.

Based on my way too many years of electric guitar playing....the bigger the strings...the bigger the pickups...the bigger the amp....the fatter the sound....never found an exception to the rule...
