Here's the current lineup:

The HOME rig:

VHT Special 12/20 with extension cab. This is a great sounding little rig. Hand wired with birch cabs. Switchable between 12 and 20 watts. It comes with 6V6 power tubes but any octal power tubes can be used. I currently have Tung-Sol 6L6GC's installed in the high power mode. Original speakers are okay but I put in Warehouse Guitar Speakers ET90's that sound great.

The REHEARSAL rig:

Avatar 45 head with Jet City 4x12 with stock Eminence speakers.

The GIG rig:

Rockitt Retro 50 with optional PPIMV. The RR50 is a hand wired clone of a 1968 Marshall Plexi. Cabs are Avatars with Celestion Creamback speakers.

KY - great looking rigs! I've done a lot of research on the VHT Special Ultra 6 amp but I've never played one. Seeing you have the 12/20, did you get a chance to demo the Ultra 6?

Dru,
No I didn't demo the Ultra 6. When I bought the 12/20 the intended usage at the time was for rehearsals. When you have a drummer as loud as ours, the 12/20 on the high power mode is the bare minimum required to be heard. That also played into the equation for the speaker swap. A more efficient speaker is a plus with Mr. Chavez on the drums.

In 2012 our Classic Oldies band folded the tent after a fantastic 27 year run.

During those years I owned just about every BF/SF amp Fender made including this '66 Bandmaster w/'65 Reverb unit on top. The guitars are my '64 Jaguar and '61 Jazzmaster:

This Bruce Zinky-designed Fender Custom Shop Dual Professional from the mid-90's is the loudest (and heaviest) amp I ever owned. It was incredible, but rarely could I use it's true volume potential. Scotty Moore used one of these during his latter years of performing on the big stage, as did Waylon Jennings and other superstars. They were the loudest CLEAN amp around and the Tremolo/Vibrato would suck the air out of your lungs if you dimed the Intensity!

After the folding of our band, I sold off all but my beloved '72 Fender Deluxe Reverb w/ Weber 12F150, 50 watt, Light Dope speaker. TONE almost beyond comprehension!

I know what you mean about loud drummers. I've played with a couple of drummers that were very skilled and didn't play loud (bonus). I've played with a couple of others who were rock 'n roll drummers that could only play loud.

I have a Fender Deluxe Reverb (Reissue) and a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe...Oh and a Fender Frontman 25R for my practice amp. Love them all...need to be a better player though to get the most out of these beauties.

You never know where you will find the tone you like. Fender Frontman 25r for me. Love the clean tones.
