As to depth--I think that can vary. Too much depth for me and the forearm edge will begin to be a problem unless it's beveled. I have shorter arms and the way I hold this makes this so. Other players holding differently and with different body measurements won't have the same issues I do, of course. But meeting or not meeting some definition of the word "parlor" or "travel" size is not critical if in the end the guitar does what you want it to and can still be used for travel or whatever general purpose the maker has in mind. I wouldn't measure the guitar and reject it if it were larger or smaller than some numbers written down. The dimensions + playability + sound are all factors in choosing a guitar. There are always compromises and weaknesses and strengths to every guitar design. I suspect this new Rainsong will fit nicely into their lineup and will be in huge demand at the right price point. Can't wait to see photos and a video when it's ready. |

I will venture a guess that the RainSong Parlor will have the following dimensions:
max body width 13.75" to 14" max body depth 4.75" overall length 36" My guesstimate was determined looking at the measurements of the RainSong Shorty, the Emerald X7-OS and the Taylor GS-mini, and estimating based on the posted picture of the RS Parlor prototype. From Rainsong's Facebook page (I hope they don't mind me posting it here).
VERY cool. I don't have a lot of experience with parlor guitars, but this sure seems like a great candidate for a travel guitar. I love the colors too.

Wow look at conservative Rainong go. They will sell a lot of these. I just can't see a depth of over 4 inches on a parlor, we will see.

Yes, in person, these look smaller, maybe 14" at bottom or a tad more. If so, it will be in the X7-OS size range. A little larger would be the X10 range--but it depends on length also. Wonder what the scale length is?

I couldn't say what it is, but I really like the shape of these guitars. Just something about it.
