Somebody once quipped that if there's ever a nuclear holocaust, the only creatures to survive will be cockroaches and Keith Richards.
As for the Fender Telecaster...it's the electric guitar boiled down to its essence. Basic, but perfect. If you spend enough time with one you'll find that it's capable of much more versatility than people think. |

I actually can't figure it out myself. I had one, along with a Les Paul, Strat, "335", Taylor 355CE, and a Takamine CD132sc A/E classical, yet I played it more than the others...combined. There just "something" about a Tele that makes me want to play it. I'm sorry for getting rid of it, that I'm so looking forward to the day I can afford to get another Tele.

Just picked a slightly bruised 94 American Standard & have been playing it most nights through an Alamo Embassy from the 60s. Way too much fun! Not a lot of sustain but a great range of tones. I am loving it & I got it dirt cheap. I also have a rosewood partcaster tele with strat neck & humbucker at the neck. 180 degrees different guitar & nearly as fun.

Short of classical jazz, or classical for that matter, you can play any style of music on a Tele.

The Telecaster is the perfect electric guitar. Simple. Reliable. Versatile. Classic.

You can definitely play classical on an electric guitar. Bach in particular can sound great!

Yeah, Ralph Maccio wiped the floor with Steve Vai using a classical piece in Crossroads - using a Tele if memory serves correctly.

Results may vary. I wouldn't advise placing bets or selling your soul to that dude against a real Steve Vai.

Simple and satisfying (and all the other things already said here) ... I enjoy other guitars for sure, but there is just something about my Tele that continues to hit the spot ... it's a keeper ...
