Default Emile Gervais Modified Dreadnought Cutaway in the Somogyi Tradition, Beautiful! SOLD

This Emile Gervais is back on the market.

Russel G. sold me this incredible guitar. I was perfectly happy with it until he offered up a Baranik for sale. Since I've been lusting after a Baranik (and Baranik Guitars is local to me), I decided I "needed" to buy it.

Unfortunately, that means the Gervais has to go.

Everything that Russel mentions in his listing is true: incredibly beautiful and meticulous build, rich balanced tone, and easy playability.

Here's the link to this incredible guitar with more photos:

Emile Gervais - Somogyi Tradition

Dimensions:
Upper: 11 3/4
Lower: 16
Waist: 10 5/8
Depth endpin: 4 3/4
Depth heel: 4 1/8

SOLD and I'll split the shipping. Fees, if any, paid for by buyer.

Soundcloud sample - recorded with no eq or effects, MXL mic into Roland Duo-capture, Garageband. Strings are new Elixir 13x53 Best listened to with headphones.

Here's a glimpse at this incredible beauty:

Wow - that was fast! Not even a month!! Such a stunning, modern look. Would love to hear some clips of the tone as I'm not familiar with the builder or cherry as a tonewood. Is the guitar still on the west coast?

Default Gervais

I know. I haven't owned it long. Kind of wish I had talked with Russel a bit more to find out what else he had for sale.

I'm in California 93402.

I'll work on a little sound sample which I'll post here.

Tom

Can't blame you - Baranik is hard to pass up! I'll keep an eye out for a sound clip. Video would be fine as well. Did you have a chance to try it plugged in? K&K in it I believe, right? Also, what is the neck shape similar to? Thin like Taylor or something thicker?

Default Gervais

Plugged in sound is very much like unplugged but louder. I have a k&k preamp but leave it flat.

Neck shape is thicker than a Taylor and, thus, more comfortable for me.

Nice looking guitar and that peghead design is pretty trick too!

Man oh man when this came up a month ago. One of the most beautiful instruments I’ve seen. Well done grabbing a Baranik. Would love to try one myself one of these days. If I hadn’t just grabbed an Irvin SD I’d be all over this.

Nice sound clip, Tom. Sounds almost as rich and full as the guitar does in person. The build quality on this Gervais is as good or better than any guitar I've owned, including the Baranik Tom bought from me. The price was a steal when I sold it to Tom and still is, not to mention Tom is an absolutely great guy to deal with. Someone will be very happy.

Agreed on the sound clip - great playing and great tone! I'm still on the fence with this guitar though. I'm not a fan of the headstock shape mostly because of that little point at the top which just begs to be snapped off with some contact! But overall it's such an interesting looking guitar. I love the neck heal shape and the piano black colorings.

It's interesting that the guitar changed a bit from the original (I looked it up on the builder's FB page). The headstock originally had the truss rod cover in a contrasting natural wood cover which was replaced with black. I actually liked the original look. Also, the K&K was added later as there was not bottom jack or even pin.

And last, it looks like a front strap button was added as you can see it poking out in a few photos.
