Default Celtic medley in DADGAD

first tune is 'Johnny Has Gone For A Soldier' followed by 'Pretty Girl Milking A Cow'.

Nice arrangements and playing! Always loved the melody on the second one, very pretty. Is this an own arrangement? Very interesting - nice intro and love the fullness of the rest. Cool stuff.

Nice playing and nice sound, Jon. Why do you call them Celtic; ain't these good ol' American tunes?

Thanks for nice comments, guys.

Dave, I see you're from Scotland, so you might be more an authority than me on celtic. From my research, 'Johnny' is the early American adaptation of a trad. celtic tune of different name (which I don't recall). Same melody, entirely different lyric. It was used in instrumental form to very haunting effect in the acclaimed Ken Burns documentary film 'The Civil War'.

'Pretty Girl' as far as I could tell is trad. celtic (although best known here perhaps as a Judy Garland cover).

Both arrangements are my own, Pretty Girl inspired by the Steve Louvat version http://www.stevelouvat.com/pages/EN/membre.php
