I'd forgotten about that Pretenders song - thanks for bringing it back to me!

Your performance was really good, but I agree with vts about the recording.....I have a very nice system I'm listening to it on and the delay on the vocals and the chorus on the guitar are "fighting" with each other.

I'd be interested in hearing it with a bit of reverb only on the vocals and a lot less chorus on the guitar, and also as Psalad noted, bring the vocals up a little bit more.

Sounds a bit better now. You have a really nice voice, so you may not need a delay on it at all.

This is a two-fer. Since it was so late in the month, I didn't think I'd be able to enter a gender bender song so I started working on Christmas tunes. This isn't perfect (I just started working on this song tonight) but here is a version of Santa Baby by Ertha Kitt / Madonna / Taylor Swift / whoever...

Well, it's still November out here in Minnesota for another hour or so. 2 songs recorded live tonight into the app on my Android phone.

~ That Song about the Midway by Joni Mitchell – Shows up on Mitchell’s Clouds album in 1969. More production details on the SoundCloud page.

~ Jim Jackson’s Kansas City Blues (first recorded in 1927) – Kind of a stretch, but while on the folk circuit in the early-60s, Janis Joplin performed the “Kansas City Blues,” which picks up on Ma Rainey’s 1928 song, Leaving This Morning, referencing Jim Jackson in the lyric and his original song in the music:

"Babe, I'm leavin, yeah I'm a-leavin this mornin
Goin to Kansas City to bring Jim Jackson home"

And, yes, I’m taking liberties with timing on the 12-bar structure. More production details on the SoundCloud page.

Well, somehow I missed this thread until just now.

Don't enter me into the drawing since this is my daughter not me, but I thought I'd contribute this one, which fits the theme:

OK, I guess if we count instrumentals, here is a melody written by a woman - Elizabeth Cotten - but the guitar solos and other guitar parts played here by a man (me) ... (and sung by my daughter).

(A fairly flawed performance in multiple ways, and my daughter would be embarrassed about me posting this since she was coming down sick that day and her voice was giving out after a performance we had done earlier, but we had fun getting this recording.)

I always enjoy your daughter's music! She's Joan Baez Junior, as far as I'm concerned!
