My vote is on a Gibson LG-2. Covers a lot of styles and very comfortable to play. There’s a great deal on one in our classifieds right now.

I would stick with the guitar and set-up that provided a $3000.00 tip. It seems to be working just fine.

Hilarious advice from the last entry. Stick with the guitar that got me the $3000 tip. Love it.

Find a really good preowned Martin 000-18 or D-18…and take a vacation road trip with the rest! There is actually a nice 2020 D-18 in the Classifieds right now for under $1900!

This ^^^^ or consider a used Taylor 814. Mine is a 2012 and does everything well!

A thought
Burning a hole? Already have an instrument used on a gig that got a $3K tip? Put the funds in a long-term investment and leave it there. Not many of us get such a windfall. Treasure it.

Gibson Songwriter Deluxe Studio would be a versatile choice. But you need to play several to find “the one”. The electronics work well with amplification. Mine is several years old. Can’t speak to whether newer builds are in the same league. Occasionally see some of similar age on Reverb.

Furch is an excellent choice. Very responsive ,clear with very defined note separation. Maybe a Rainbow series. $3k. Custom

May I suggest...
Obviously your current axe is working for you!
Perhaps a pilgrimage to this excellent guitar confab is in order. You might want to consider a bespoke instrument from one of the AWESOME builders who will be at this: https://www.acousticguitarforum.com/...d.php?t=610733 Lots of interesting info on BOSS guitars in the AGF Custom Shop area Happy hunting! Which guitar is better for solo performance mostly rhythm with some flatpicking thrown in. As my original post stated, I am after clarity, less overtones, punchy, articulate when picked.
1. Gibson Songwriter 2. Gibson Dove 3. Gibson J-45 All of the above can be as spec'd out as can be if the total does not equal $2500.00 As usual.....many thanks

I would get a used 814ce, but I’m also a Taylor guy! That’s an awesome way to get some spending money! Congrats

An LG-1 is ladder braced as opposed to the X braced LG-2. Fundamental difference in tone. |

Since you've got all the 'major players' brands covered in your sig, how about a carbon fiber guitar? Excellent durability and these days no shortage of choices and styles. If you like modern looking then a nice Emerald X20 plugged in sounds great. If you prefer more traditional, the new Vintage and Nashville series RainSong's come in many styles with the excellent sounding LR Baggs Anthem StagePro pickup system. The wood/carbon fused tops provide a bit of warmth while maintaining a great, even tone across the strings that sounds great strummed or delicately plucked. I've been very happy with my Nashville Shorty. And being carbon fiber would be a great guitar for a traveling, cruise line performer.

For me, My J-185 with Fishman Aura pro is the perfect combination.
Maple back and sides. Notes are brilliant, crisp, and in your face. Plugged in, with the Aura Pro. In a sound system. It's the best tone I've ever heard on an acoustic. |
