Default New Old Yamaha Guitar on the Way

I bought this mid 1970's Yamaha FG 122 from a seller in Japan I have had sucesss with before.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/YAMAHA-FG-1...UAAOSwyPFcTpp~

He sold me my 1976 FG 152 a few years ago and it was really cheap-- maybe $200 including shipping and is a total gem.

Anyway this guitar is a gift for one of my son's friends who fell in love with my FG 110 this summer. I told him he had to find a seller who listed the string height at the 12th fret as pictures alone can't show the action/playability and decided to do the research myself.

Anyone know anything about the FG122? The seller told me it's the same body size as the FG 110.

FG122
Jumbo body (FG110 is described as Folk)
Manufactured 1975-78
Ezo (?) Spruce top
African Mahogany back & sides
Bubinga fretboard & bridge
636mm scale length

My understanding is that this model was not imported into the US.
However, I also can’t find this model in any of the Japanese catalogs from this period that are available on the web!

I did see the spreadsheet that has it as Jumbo but the sellers pictures and answer to my question seem to be same as 110 and 150 OM or 000 size. I will confirm once it arrives. That being said I can’t find more than a few japanese videos. Its an oval red label which should say nippon gakki (?) and designate made in that Japanese factory. My 152 is from 76 and has the same label. It has ivroid bindings and I bought it in 2015 and like this one it shipped from Tokyo.

Would you recommend and share this sellers information?

I happened to be checking out the seller when you posted, interested in the free shipping. The profile lists 14,558 items for sale.

Once in his store, search for yamaha FG. He does a good job rating and describing each guitar condition and playability and most importantly string height at the 12th fret.

Seems like a cheap one— almost unplayable action. And he tells you.

Funny translation software adds to the charm. He answered my emails same day. Now that he has included the cost of shipping its the best japan option I’ve found.

Yes it's essentially the same guitar as the old 110. Here's a horribly out of tune example...

Very cool! Enjoy. I picked up the new Red Label FGX5 yesterday and am amazed by how good it sounds. Played many Yamaha's when I first started out and this one took me way back to those days. Hope it brings you many years of pleasure...

I have a FG 470 SA from the early 90s. It’s a great guitar. Love the older Yammies.

Thanks

We are giving this fg as a gift. Ouch. I don’t want to part with her.
Guitar arrived well packed and as described. Some cleaner, polish and lemon oil for the fret board and bridge with some new strings and she is ready to live in her new home. Sounds and plays like a champ.
