Default Price for a used ToneRite?

Hi, I've read the pros and cons of using a ToneRite or Tone Rite and somebody local is selling one for like $10 or so? Huh? How can I test that it works? Is it worth $10 if it doesn't? I've sent an email so we will see the answer soon.

$10 is a steal, assuming it still functions. I paid much than that for a used one.

Yeah I thought so too. So either (1) it doesn't work but I should be able to test that easily, right? or (2) whoever used it was one of those who reported no discernible improvment or (3) ... I don't know but that seems even cheaper than giveaway prices.

I don't really have any new guitars but I do have several that don't get much play time as I tend to play only one or two of my guitars. But I'm getting back into playing acoustic as I am too old (and cranky) to play bass in local classic rock bands. So sad ... but true.

Just got word back from the seller who told me it was a gift and she never used it. I can test it out, right?

You got a steal. They usually are about $70-$90 used.

well I could probably resell it to my local Guitar Center ... or even post it here for what I paid for it ... plus shipping.

I just paid $97 on Ebay for one, so that's a steal.

Let me add, as far as I can tell the TR is amazing. My Lowden and 717 always sound great. My D18GE needs to be warmed up for about 15 min before it's heavenly. My 814ce dlx v class has that familiar Taylor jangle until it warms up too, around 5-10 minutes of decent strumming. Then it's creamy, smooth, melodic, etc. Anything but metallic and thin.

Well, I bought the TR last week and just put the 814ce through 72 hours and wow, it's a stunner. The jangle is gone from the get go--it's louder, more bassy, smoother, just beautiful.

I know there are a fair amount of TR detractors, but put me in the "it works" camp.

Yes. Plug it in. Move the dial. If it vibrates, it works. Go get it.

If it functions properly, and they got the results they wanted, WHY SO CHEAP.
Brag about results and up the price.
IMHO, Tonerite is just another example of a product, you can not prove that it works.

Yes we are supposed to meet later this afternoon. If it vibrates I will buy it. She told me it takes a long time to see how well it works but I told her all I need to know if it turns on.

OK. I got it. Seems to work fine and I have the original box. No manual or instructions, however. I don't know what version/model this is but it not the current G3 model. However the writing on the box says it is an improved or updated version.

I can't find the actual manual or instructions online. The unit has an adjustable control so I'm wondering where the "safe" setting would be ... half way do you folks think?

I've read where some people say it's best for the unit to also touch or come close to the bridge where others say just to place it anywhere to find the "sweet spot."

I called my luthier friend who said he had explored the unit and had come to the conclusion it is essentially worthless. But at $10 he said my purchase was no brainer as I could easily recoup my money.
