EADGBE on a Rainsong WS3000 12- String
I'm probably stating the obvious here, and I think this matter has been the subject of previous threads, but can anyone confirm that I can keep my Rainsong tuned to the above? -I'm aware that CF guitars have a much stronger resilience than their more traditional wood-built counterparts, and never keep my other 12- strings tuned up this high,-but I do like the sound of my Rainsong when tuned up to pitch,I'd appreciate any comments on this, thanks.

I keep my RainSong JM3000 (jumbo 12-string) in standard tuning all the time and it's just fine. The bridge is actually bolted on, so no worries about it pulling up. And the CF construction means you don't have to worry about the geometry of the guitar changing.

Carbon fiber guitar rid you of any of these worries, tune down my wood 12s to save them, tune down carbon only for voice.

In that case then, given the integral strength of the guitar, could I crank it up to open E then? -I'm aware that I could go open D and capo at the second fret, but I dont like to lose the scale length.

I have sent Rainsong two emails to date, asking about this, and had no reply to either one-which is the reason I'm asking the questions on this Forum.

I also own a Rainsong WS-3000 12-string. I would say the hardest thing to overcome is treating it like a wood guitar. I've been playing many different makes and models over the years, and I have acquired many habits in regards to 12-string guitars. I am use to using lower gauge and low tension strings. I also tune down to prevent any structural damage. Well, the WS-3000 is a whole different breed. Look inside the soundhole and there is no bracing. There is no truss rod because it is so tough that the neck needs no adjustments. Whatever is set at the factory is set for life. If you're thinking of doing anything radical, then this guitar is your best hope. When I first received my WS-3000, I had it in standard tuning for about a month, but I am too use to the lower tension of tuning down, so I tuned it down to D Standard. I just spoke with Ashvin from Rainsong Guitars (800-788-5826). He told me that the WS-3000 is shipped from the factory in standard tuning. Downtuning is up to the customer. So there is your official answer. noman |
