Have patience Dave, It appears that your acoustic guitar journey has just begun. I suspect that you will enjoy and appreciate some very nice instruments as time goes by. My regret is that I didn't begin this pursuit when I was your age. Cheers

Morris B-50 12-string - looks better than it sounds.

While all of my guitars sound great (I would never buy a guitar solely on looks) my best sounding guitars (SCGC and H&D) have very straight-grained EI Rosewood back and sides.

If I were forced to downsize, those would be among the last to go.

In all truth, this is all about aesthetics. 1) it's what you play (musically, not the guitar ) 2) it's whether you like how it sounds 3) if the first two work, it's a great guitar

Strangely enough, I put up four shots earlier. The last one is aesthetically the most boring and least figured. That one is actually very old, very dark Brazilian rosewood and looks pretty boring, but.......the rest is just opinion

I realize that tone is king when it comes to guitars but there is something to be said for being visually pleasing too.

I will say I was never a fan of the three piece backs I'd seen in person...until the entries in this thread. Now I'm a convert.
