Quote:
A commission such as this always carries a certain degree of risk. The materials used mean that the price was always going to be pretty stratospheric. Tom acquired three sets of The Tree and this guitar is the third of those builds; a fact that I was very happy with, knowing that he would be able to bring to bear his previous experience of working with this rather special wood into focus on this instrument. All in all, a(nother) great achievement by Mr Sands. Cheers all, Ian |

Ian, I can’t even imagine. So stoked for you to have an instrument of this caliber. Enjoy. Every. Note.

OK, on Thursday this week the wonderfully talented Will McNicol popped round to collect this guitar in order to record some demo material with it. Somehow, I got the distinct impression that he was/is rather taken with it.
Here's his first recording of a piece he composed after some hours of familiarisiing himself with the guitar. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LIhfJobD_4A Last edited by TomB'sox; 09-26-2020 at 09:38 AM. Reason: Embedded video |

Just listened to that with decent headphones - I think that may be the best recording of a Sands I've heard.
Sure, the player helps, but the deep, resonant, mellifluous bass sounds just like Tom's guitars do in real life, and that's real hard to capture on "tape" (I've certainly failed to). I may also have to eat what I've said many times previously regarding "the tree" being all hype... Can't wait to hear it in-the-flesh when we are able to. You must be stoked +++. Cheers, Steve |
