Good stuff. Reminds me of that kid in some of the Lowe Vintage demo videos. Also my nephew, who's been playing since he was 4, and better than me since he was about 7. I'm a mix of proud, delighted, and wanting to break his agile little fingers.

I showed my nephew a few major chords when he was about 10. I remember him signing along to "Knocking on Heavens Door" and it was truly awful. I never thought he would stick with it.

A few years later he was playing Pat Metheny solos at open mics and gigging with his classical guitar at art shows, etc. All state high school band several times and now playing in college.

I take all the credit, other than the fact that there is no TV in his house, he likes to spend time alone, a lot of parental encouragement and some amazing teachers. He earned it, there are no short cuts, even for so called child prodigies.

I really enjoy the kid's playing, but I found the constant thumping he was giving it to be distracting and unnecessary...

That makes me think of what Kris Kristofferson said (as a compliment) about the genius
of John Prine. "He's so good we're gonna have to break his fingers."

I think what's impressive about his playing is that he's not just mechanically plowing through someone else's composition, but there's real expression and feeling in his playing.

And tone! I'm not sure what model of Martin that is he's playing, but to me it sounds better than TE's Matons.
